The turning point in Faema's history is represented by the year 1961, when they introduced the model known as the E61. This espresso machine, equipped with an innovative infusion system and an electric pump, replaced the manual or hydraulic piston machines which had been popular in the Italian market. The new model produced a much higher quality cup of espresso and made brewing easier for the operator. The E61 achieved such astonishing success that in a few years Faema managed to build a worldwide distribution network to gain more exposure for their espresso machines.
