History
Those who have had the good fortune to travel to Europe, and particularly to Italy, will immediately recall the rich flavored cappuccinos offered in quaint sidewalk cafes. In Italy, where coffee is a passion, and where espresso coffee originated, the most popular coffee by far is Lavazza.

Lavazza has been roasting coffees for over 100 years at its plant in the northwest city of Turin. Lavazza's state-of-the-art roasting facility boasts the world's highest concentration of advanced coffee technology. The entire process, from sacks of green beans to pallets of roasted coffee, is computerized and centrally monitored on video screens for complete consistency. Special attention is paid to each bean as it is inspected for any imperfections and then roasted in air convection roasters, which guarantees that each bean is evenly browned and never scorched. Lavazza's scrupulous bean selection, meticulous roasting, and cutting edge research and development make this famous family-owned company recognizable around the world as the leader in espresso coffee.

Nowhere is Lavazza's commitment to maintaining a technological edge more evident than in their packaging process. Lavazza pioneered vacuum packaging to protect roasted coffee, which is chemically unstable, from the air's oxygen. In fact, packaging is the most sensitive phase of the entire production process. For this reason, Lavazza's roasted coffee is sent via process control computers directly to the packaging machines where the bags are sealed immediately. These highly advanced machines pack 150,000 pounds of Lavazza a day for the foodservice industry.

For the past 107 years, the Lavazza family's passion for perfection has been exclusively devoted to coffee and its connoisseurs. Let Lavazza, with its authentic Italian taste, aroma and consistent quality, start your morning, add gusto to your work day, or complete a meal with polish and panache.
